Think of flying over hills, the ocean breeze hits you in the face. Suddenly, the cliff drops and reveals a thriving community, a boarding school that sprawls out on the hillside. It sparkles in the morning sun as the waterfall that feeds its power rushes past beneath it. Surrounding the school, there are sparkling meadows, alight in their own verdant glow, where a summer camp is situated during the down months for the school. The bright white tents flutter in the wind that wafts over the top of the cliffs, and the ocean crashes not far away.
How did this come to be?
You may be wondering how such an amazing jewel was found and created on the shores of this island. Well, it's quite simple actually. Four friends, not friends at the time, found the location, each on his or her own. Roaming the countryside, each for their own reasons, a horse trainer, a professional show rider, an architect, and a historian happened upon the location that is now Emerald Edge. The trainer and show rider traveled together, trailing a herd of beautiful wild horses over the range of mountains that rings the cliffs where the boarding school now lies. The historian traveled to view ancient history that tugged at his soul. And, the architect found the serene area and pinned it as the perfect location for one of his masterpieces.
The only problem with getting four people with four different ideas about how a place should be handled is that things seldom go smoothly. Instantly, Tanner (the historian), Daryn (the architect), Blythe (the horse trainer), and Issy (the show rider) began arguing over how the area would be cultivated. Tanner wanted a historical research center while Daryn wanted to build a monumental edifice while even still, the horse-oriented women wanted some sort of facility for watching over the roaming wild horse herds. What came of this? Blythe and Issy got their wish to follow the horses and to train others to work with horses. Daryn got his beautiful building, and Tanner was granted his hope to study the history of the area. And, Emerald Edge Boarding School came alive on the cliffs of the island.
The four formed an alliance, one that would preserve the area, create a wonderful environment for people to train and show with their horses, and a beautiful life for all who desired it. And, after four years of difficult toil and much work, Emerald Edge Boarding School came alive. It hangs over the waterfall that cascades down the cliffs and drops to the depth of the cove below.
